We promote wealth building in Finland – from the moment a child takes its first steps
OP First Investment is a real step towards long-term saving and investment for babies and their families.
It makes sense to start early
When a child learns about investing and spending from an early age, they gain a solid foundation for a financially secure future. Financial literacy supports the wellbeing of individuals and society as a whole.
Receive the investment for your child the easy way
You can accept the gift in the op.fi service or at an OP cooperative bank branch. At the same time, you can start monthly investment for your child.
A gift that could grow with your child
OP Financial Group member cooperative banks will make an OP First Investment donation – a 100-euro investment in OP-World Index fund – to every baby born in Finland this year.
This one-off investment of 100 euros could grow over the years. Based on an expected return of 6%, the sum would increase to 285 euros in 18 years.
If you start investing through the fund at the same time (with 40 euros a month, for example) the sum could amount to 15,598 euros by the time the child is 18. You can start investing monthly with just 10 euros a month. Even small sums can add up to thousands of euros by the time the child reaches adulthood.
How can I accept OP First Investment?
OP First Investment is offered for all babies born in 2025. You can accept the gift within 12 months of the child's birth. OP First Investment can be accepted in the op.fi service or by visiting an OP cooperative bank branch. If you accept the gift digitally in the op.fi service, processing the gift may take a few weeks.
Accepting the gift on behalf of a minor
Accepting the gift requires that the child has a Current Account with OP and an OP Savings and Investments Agreement. Both of these are free of charge. The account and agreement can only be activated if the child has a Finnish personal identity code, registered name and a permanent address in Finland.
Parents can accept the gift at any OP cooperative bank branch, even if they are not customers of OP. If you wish to accept the gift digitally in the op.fi service, at least one guardian must have an OP user ID and the other guardian or guardians must have banking IDs from OP or another Finnish bank.
A Current Account can be opened for a child in the op.fi service or at an OP cooperative bank branch.
